A network of seven universities and colleges

The task of leading and administering the program has been assigned to the tourism research institute ETOUR at the Mid Sweden University in Östersund. The work is organised in the form of a network where researchers from the universities in Karlstad, Gothenburg, Örebro and Umeå, Blekinge Institute of Technology and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences are participants.

There will be more than 15 researchers representing the seven institutions, including professors, senior lecturers, researchers and doctoral candidates. The program also employs an extension specialist.

The results of the research will provide an important basis for the work of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency on developing the conditions for outdoor recreation in Sweden. Other main target groups for the work of the program include the county administrative boards, local authorities, recreation and tourism organisations, as well as businesses active within recreational activities and nature-based tourism.
