Studies of Swedish outdoor recreation

The project applies a common empirical arena which includes case studies of various outdoor recreation environments together with a national / regional postal and Internet enquiry aimed at providing information about the participation in outdoor recreational activities with respect to visitation patterns, constraints, economic and social factors. The empirical arena will form the basis for the other five research projects of the programme.

The project´s research will aim to:

  • Analyse participation, non-participation and constraints in outdoor recreation.
  • Improve outdoor recreation statistics and methods to monitor outdoor recreation.
  • Analyse a selection of areas where outdoor recreation is particularly important.
